1[Rabbi Rachumai continued,] "Another interpretation: 'Renew Your deeds in the midst of years' (Habakkuk 3:2) — a parable to which it can be compared: to a king that had a good jewel, and she was the desire of his kingdom. At the time when he is happy, he embraces her, kisses her, places her on his head, and loves her. Habakkuk said, 'Even though the angels are with You, this desired gem — she is in the world!' Thus, 'Renew in the midst of years'. What is the meaning of the 'years'? As it is said, 'And Elohim said, 'Let there be light'' (Genesis 1:3). There is no light except day, as is written, 'The great light to rule the day and the small light to rule the night' (Genesis 1:15). Years are [made] from days, as it is written, 'Renew in the midst of years' — within this gem, who births the years."
