1He Himself is All-in-Himself.

2In His many ways, He establishes and disestablishes.

3He is Imperishable; nothing can be broken.

4He lends His Support to maintain the Universe.

5Unfathomable and Inscrutable is the Glory of the Lord.

6As He inspires us to meditate, O Nanak, so do we meditate. ||6||

7Those who know God are glorious.

8The whole world is redeemed by their teachings.

9God's servants redeem all.

10God's servants cause sorrows to be forgotten.

11The Merciful Lord unites them with Himself.

12Chanting the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they become ecstatic.

13He alone is committed to serve them,

14upon whom God bestows His Mercy, by great good fortune.

15Those who chant the Naam find their place of rest.

16O Nanak, respect those persons as the most noble. ||7||

17Whatever you do, do it for the Love of God.

18Forever and ever, abide with the Lord.

19By its own natural course, whatever will be will be.

20Acknowledge that Creator Lord;

21God's doings are sweet to His humble servant.

22As He is, so does He appear.

23From Him we came, and into Him we shall merge again.

24He is the treasure of peace, and so does His servant become.

25Unto His own, He has given His honor.

26O Nanak, know that God and His humble servant are one and the same. ||8||14||

27Shalok:

28God is totally imbued with all powers; He is the Knower of our troubles.

29Meditating in remembrance on Him, we are saved; Nanak is a sacrifice to Him. ||1||

30Ashtapadee:

31The Lord of the World is the Mender of the broken.

32He Himself cherishes all beings.

33The cares of all are on His Mind;

34no one is turned away from Him.

35O my mind, meditate forever on the Lord.

36The Imperishable Lord God is Himself All-in-all.

37By one's own actions, nothing is accomplished,

38even though the mortal may wish it so, hundreds of times.

39Without Him, nothing is of any use to you.

40Salvation, O Nanak, is attained by chanting the Name of the One Lord. ||1||

41One who is good-looking should not be vain;

42the Light of God is in all hearts.

43Why should anyone be proud of being rich?

44All riches are His gifts.

45One may call himself a great hero,

46but without God's Power, what can anyone do?

47One who brags about giving to charities

48the Great Giver shall judge him to be a fool.

49One who, by Guru's Grace, is cured of the disease of ego

50- O Nanak, that person is forever healthy. ||2||

51As a palace is supported by its pillars,

52so does the Guru's Word support the mind.

53As a stone placed in a boat can cross over the river,

54so is the mortal saved, grasping hold of the Guru's Feet.

55As the darkness is illuminated by the lamp,

56so does the mind blossom forth, beholding the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan.

57The path is found through the great wilderness by joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and one's light shines forth.

58I seek the dust of the feet of those Saints;

59O Lord, fulfill Nanak's longing! ||3||

60O foolish mind, why do you cry and bewail?
