1- his name is truly Ram Das, the Lord's servant.

2He comes to have the Vision of the Lord, the Supreme Soul.

3Deeming himself to be the slave of the Lord's slaves, he obtains it.

4He knows the Lord to be Ever-present, close at hand.

5Such a servant is honored in the Court of the Lord.

6To His servant, He Himself shows His Mercy.

7Such a servant understands everything.

8Amidst all, his soul is unattached.

9Such is the way, O Nanak, of the Lord's servant. ||6||

10One who, in his soul, loves the Will of God,

11is said to be Jivan Mukta - liberated while yet alive.

12As is joy, so is sorrow to him.

13He is in eternal bliss, and is not separated from God.

14As is gold, so is dust to him.

15As is ambrosial nectar, so is bitter poison to him.

16As is honor, so is dishonor.

17As is the beggar, so is the king.

18Whatever God ordains, that is his way.

19O Nanak, that being is known as Jivan Mukta. ||7||

20All places belong to the Supreme Lord God.

21According to the homes in which they are placed, so are His creatures named.

22He Himself is the Doer, the Cause of causes.

23Whatever pleases God, ultimately comes to pass.

24He Himself is All-pervading, in endless waves.

25The playful sport of the Supreme Lord God cannot be known.

26As the understanding is given, so is one enlightened.

27The Supreme Lord God, the Creator, is eternal and everlasting.

28Forever, forever and ever, He is merciful.

29Remembering Him, remembering Him in meditation, O Nanak, one is blessed with ecstasy. ||8||9||

31Many people praise the Lord. He has no end or limitation.

32O Nanak, God created the creation, with its many ways and various species. ||1||

34Many millions are His devotees.

35Many millions perform religious rituals and worldly duties.

36Many millions become dwellers at sacred shrines of pilgrimage.

37Many millions wander as renunciates in the wilderness.

38Many millions listen to the Vedas.

39Many millions become austere penitents.

40Many millions enshrine meditation within their souls.

41Many millions of poets contemplate Him through poetry.

42Many millions meditate on His eternally new Naam.

43O Nanak, none can find the limits of the Creator. ||1||

44Many millions become self-centered.

45Many millions are blinded by ignorance.

46Many millions are stone-hearted misers.

47Many millions are heartless, with dry, withered souls.

48Many millions steal the wealth of others.

49Many millions slander others.

50Many millions struggle in Maya.

51Many millions wander in foreign lands.

52Whatever God attaches them to - with that they are engaged.

53O Nanak, the Creator alone knows the workings of His creation. ||2||

54Many millions are Siddhas, celibates and Yogis.

55Many millions are kings, enjoying worldly pleasures.

56Many millions of birds and snakes have been created.

57Many millions of stones and trees have been produced.

58Many millions are the winds, waters and fires.

59Many millions are the countries and realms of the world.

60Many millions are the moons, suns and stars.
